This book trailer has been an idea in the back of my mind for quite some time now, and to have finally seen it come to life literally brought me to tears. I have a handful of wonderfully hilarious memories to go along with it, and I’ve been given a taste of watching my dreams come true. While my book is not yet published, nor has it been presented to a publisher, this is my way of motivating myself, sharing a bit of what I’m doing with the world, and taking an active roll in what I’m supposed to be doing as a writer.
It started when I pitched the idea to a great friend of mine, Jared Potter (Part One Media). I shared a bit about what I was hoping for and he eagerly accepted. It didn’t take more than a few weeks to brainstorm, pick my actor (another friend of mine, Jordan Swann) find a location, and choose the date! Millersylvania park provided the perfect forest and a fun exploration adventure. The weather was perfect, provided it was the middle of January, and not a drop of rain fell on our heads (that’s a big deal for us Washingtonians!).
When Jared sent me the first rendered version of the crystal butterfly I actually cried tears of joy. It was happening. It wasn’t an idea anymore, it was reality. I’ve saved every little bit of everything along the way; I’ll share bits and pieces with you over time, of course. Then, in not much time at all he had finished the video, my dad put together the epic title song, and it was time… time to wait even more!
While Jared was finished, I’d had other things I needed to do before it was time to share the video. I started my facebook author page after a few years of being on a facebook hiatus. Then, all I had to wait for was my website! My dad, Richard Aronson (Watershed Creative) put together a great site that makes me feel legit and professional! After teaching me how to manage the basics on my own, it was finally time to announce it… just in time for the date I’d picked to release the book trailer.
April 13th!
I’d considered doing April 1st and posting some sort of April fool’s joke, but my sense of humor doesn’t reach that level with this stuff. Now, it does reach an entirely different level when it comes to making all of this happen… Jared knows. (*cough, cough,* oh my fishy!).
I’ve received so much support and help along the way, I have to brag a little about my dear friends and family who’ve been apart just as much as I have. First off, let me tell you about Jared Potter, the boss-man of Part One Media! He gave me way more than expected, showed such enthusiasm the whole way, and made this whole process super easy… on me, anyways! His giving heart, never-ending support, and creative thinking carried a lot of the weight. Next, my parents, who were just as important in this as they’ve been my whole journey of becoming a writer (try my whole journey at life!). My mom and dad have been there every step of the way, and they’ve provided so much wisdom, advice, and support as well. From helping with the process of creating this trailer to being my first readers for short stories, they’re always there for me.
There’s many other people who deserve recognition for their support and, in due time, I’ll share more about that. For now, however, here’s a big thank you to Jared, my parents, and of course Jordan for being apart of the making of this trailer! It’s been a blast. I’ll cherish the jokes, the laughs, the creativity, and the endless support and encouragement everyone provided. This adventure has been one of my favorites! Hope you enjoy the trailer, and I look forward to sharing more of life’s adventures with you as I make this journey.
I’m so proud of you Arlene 😉 Can’t wait to see what’s next!
